Due to the great ergonomics of keyboard and the current development of technology, keyboards instruments are one of the most powerful and versatile musical instruments. The ability to perform homophonic and polyphonic music, the possibility of obtaining a large scale and volume, and often at the same time controlling the dynamics of each finger individually etc. made keyboards a favourite tool supporting the work of composers for centuries. They are perfectly suited to play accompaniment and solo, providing a high performance capabilities, successfully lead the entire orchestra, filling harmony and at the same time setting the pace, or give melodic themes with powerful accompaniment.
Accordions
These portable instruments come in many varieties, due to the type of keyboard, tonal system, and today, there are also built excellent digital accordions, having the ability to simulate different types of accordions and orchestral sounds. Accordions are often used in classical, rock, pop and electronic music, but they are the most famous and characteristic for folk music and military songs. This instrument is firmly inscribed in the folk culture of many countries in Europe and South America, it also provided comfort and entertainment to soldiers tending to the front.
Pianos
Piano is one of the most powerful, versatile and difficult instruments. Its name comes from the words ‘piano e forte’, which means that the piano can play quietly or loudly, so it can control dynamic and gives composers new possibilities. Apart from the acoustic pianos, there are also produced highly advanced digital pianos, which slightly inferior acoustic counterparts, but do not require tuning, have smooth volume control and the ability to simulate the sound of different pianos and other instruments. In addition to the classic pianos and digital, they are also harpsichords, offering unique and unattainable for the piano sounds.
Upright
Upright can be considered as a compact version of piano. The plate is placed vertically rather than horizontally as in the piano, and has two, instead of three strings per tone. There is also different usage of the centre pedal. It is interesting that during the Second World War, the US Army built compact pianos with pieces of bombers to entertain wounded soldiers.
Electronic uprights and stage foam
Just like pianos, upright also have their digital counterparts, with a sufficiently large keyboard and hammer mechanism, giving a feeling similar to an acoustic instrument. Machines of this type never derange, are compact, very light, and thanks to the volume control can be used almost anywhere. A mobile version of the digital upright is so called stage piano, that has a compact design reminiscent a synthesizer, and does not have a permanent base, making it lightweight and easy to transport.
Organs
Organs are the most powerful and majestic musical instrument. Everyone who has ever heard a large pipe organ in the cathedral know its power, and the use of a number of manuals, including Swell pedal, makes the organs have enormous polyphonic possibilities comparable to those available to the orchestra. Thanks to electronic technology, this instrument can take compact size and provide even greater possibilities of sound. A legend in this area is the Hammond company, which at the beginning of the twentieth century created its own original organ sound, which initially became the subject of controversy until gained widespread recognition in many genres of contemporary music.
Synthesizers
This electronic instruments have become a class of their own and have made a breakthrough in the history of music. Ability to produce sounds which cannot be obtained in any other way and the possibility to imitate any instruments or expand their scale, made that synthesizers have led to the creation of many new music genres, influenced the development of the old ones, and became one of the most widely used instruments.
Keyboards
Keyboards are true music combines. Characteristic for keyboards are; relatively simple technique of playing and the possibility of replacing the entire band by a single instrument of this type. Keyboards are well suited to perform any music, ranging from jazz and rock, and ending with pop, dance or club music.
Control keyboards
These are keyboard without sound modules, used to control external modules or virtual computer instruments. There are many size variants and the types of mechanisms, from the synth-action to the hammer-action.
Sound modules and sequencers
Sound modules are synthesizers without keyboards that can be actuated by another electronic instrument, sequencer, computer, or simple MIDI file players. The great advantage of the modules is the small size and limited cost - instead of another synthesizer with keyboard, they offer the same sound "batch", sometimes coming directly from prestigious, full keyboard synthesizers.
Sequencers is the form of external device, or built-in synthesizer function, and are used for programming of repetitive sequences of tones.
Pedals, stands and other accessories
Seemingly small things that cannot be disregard by any professional. In contemporary music, pedals can be as important as the keyboard, on appropriate setting of instrument depends the ease of playing on it, and it is worth to take care of the condition of the instrument, through proper storage at home and in transport.
