Metronome
The idea of a metronome is exact beating of rhythm to help musicians improving their own feeling of rhythm . The pace of the rhythm is measured in beats per minute (bits per minute, abbreviated bpm). Traditional mechanical metronomes were regulated on a particular pace leaning out the arm of the metronome on an appropriate distance. Today, metronomes have screens and buttons which allow to edit and preview currently programmed speed. Electronic metronomes features often include possibility of programming emphasizing of various types of meters, and even beating of particular notes within a meter i.e. quavers or quaver triplets and even mixtures of quavers with quarter notes.
The choice of metronomes is really huge, although most of them combine features of basic tuner with a little bit more sophisticated metronome. Tuner
A classical way of tuning all instruments is to tune them to the model sound. The most popular model sound is A4 of the frequency of 440Hz. This sound is emitted by most of the tuning forks. It is sound of the violin’s open string A. In the case of guitars it is the sound on the fifth fret of the thin string E. We have tuner adapted to tune instruments by using built-in microphone and linear connection electric instrument – tuner. This is the most classic type of tuner which allows to tune acoustic and electric instrument. Acoustic instrument is tuned with built-in speaker and electric instrument is connected to the tuner. Curiosity
Incredibly interesting phenomenon is the phenomenon of music tuned to the sound of a standard A = 432 Hz. It is difficult to comment whether it actually stands for something more than just a placebo. What is certain is that many people think that the music recorded on the basis of tuning into the sound is more natural for people and better aligned with the structure of our bodies. One of the arguments is getting integers at each of the 12 sounds. For example, C = 256 Hz. In this case this number is even associated with digital technology. Supporters of A=432 Hz believe that the common norm of tuning instruments to A=440Hz is a conspiracy aimed to annoy all of us because of music dissonant with our bodies. I don’t know who is right, but I’m sure that high quality reeds have an option of default switching A=440 Hz to another value, also to A=432 Hz.
Summary
The choice of tuners and metronomes is huge. Each type of these devices works differently depending on the type of the instrument which we want to tune.
